Hi Friend,
Iâve always loved making things up.
As a kid, I filled notebooks with stories. I talked to myself in the car. My sister, cousins, and I spent hours inventing plays to perform for our parents (some better than others, but all extremely dramatic).
And honestly? I still make stuff up, only now I do it professionally.
Writing escape rooms doesnât pay all the bills (yet), but it has become my favorite way to dream up silly mysteries, like out-of-control popcorn machines, missing trophies, and (of course) stolen marshmallows.
Which brings me to todayâs treat:
Campfire Story Starters â a free printable filled with sâmores-themed prompts to help kids create hilarious, gooey, chocolate-dripping stories of their own.
You can use it two ways:
Writing Time â Let kids pick a prompt and write their own campfire mini story.
Story Circle âCampfireâ â Gather kids in a circle (real or pretend campfire-style) and go around, each adding one sentence to the story.
Its group storytelling meets improv. And itâs a fun way to build storytelling skills without handing kids a blank page and saying, âOkay, go.â

This printable also pairs perfectly with my Sâmores Snatchers escape roomâa full campfire-themed mystery thatâs sweet, silly, and packed with puzzles, which will be releasing soon.
And if you're into marshmallow madness, just wait till you see whatâs coming next week. Letâs just say weâre stacking up something fun.
Hereâs to silly stories, sticky fingers, and helping kids fall in love with languageâone sentence at a time.
With wonder,
-Allison
